Petticoats Please - FAIL

I saw the "Petticoats Please" tutorial on BurdaStyle and decided to give it a try because I've been needing to make one anyways...  I downloaded the instructions, measured my tulle, and began to cut.  Only problem is, I didn't read ALL of the instructions before beginning!!!!  PLUS my brain just isn't working today!!!!  Snip, snip, snip.  Forgot to add seam allowances.  Chop, chop, chop.  Didn't realize the first layer was supposed to be cotton.  Oops.

But of course, crafters don't just throw away a botched project!  I have succeeded in salvaging it.  I'm very proud.

One huge lesson I've learned throughout my years of crafting is never give up.  If things don't work out the way you planned, be flexible!  Be creative!  That's the point of crafting.

Tips for Taming the Tulle (haha)

• Weight the corners with something
• Work on a surface that is contrasting in color with the tulle
• When cutting a straight line, just fold it in half again and again until you have a shorter piece to cut
• Good lighting!  That shit is hard see
• Gathering all that tulle and making it even is a bitch...use a higher tension setting on your machine (I used a 5 on mine) and it will gather the tulle for you

I didn't put any satin ribbon on it because I didn't have any :[   I did have some sparkly purple ruffly trim. Unfortunately, not enough!  I'll have to order more [I got it from I Love Cookie Party].

Attack of the Craft!

As you may have guessed, I have just joined Attack of the Craft.  I am trying to get to know some crafty people whose stuff I like, since I don't know many in real life...  I am excited because I know it will help in promoting my Etsy shop, Heart Attack Couture.  I don't know how to make banners, or links, or do a lot of stuff that would make my biz a lot better, so maybe these people can help me.  Plus, they make really cute stuff!

For my logo I have finally come up with an idea and it looks something like this:

But I can't just steal this image from someone else, can I?  I didn't make it.  And how would I modify it to suit my needs?  I guess I will post about this when I find out the answer.

Nerd Glasses

I've been wanting some new frames for a while, so I bought some military issue "birth control" glasses, because I like them.  Well, I tried them on and I wasn't sure they were ME.  They definitely look good on Oscar, though:

Final Exams

I completely abandoned my blog during the school semester :(  But tomorrow is the LAST DAY of final exams and I'll be able to craft and blog to my heart's content!  I can't wait to show you what I've been making:

I asked for a rotary cutter and mat for Christmas.  Also, one of those Fuji Film Instax cameras...I recently got back into scrapbooking after about a 5-year hiatus.
